UN-VEILING THE PREJUDICE

REPORT:

The first training module for adult educators, named “Un-veiling the prejudice”, focuses on the issues of prejudices (Chapter 2 of the handbook under preparation). The training took place from 17th to 19th of October 2003 in Bankia (a small town close to Sofia).

The aim of the training was twofold:
· to train adult educators with selected training approaches related to the issue of prejudices
· to evaluate the training approaches and some of the ready handbook texts.

The training approaches included interactive techniques, role – plays and awareness raising games, based on “learning through experience”.

The total number of participants was 18 (11 ethnic Bulgarians, 4 ethnic Turks and 3 Roma persons) coming from various parts of Bulgaria e.i. Razgrad, Veliko Tyrnovo and Burgas.

The feedback from the participants about the structure of the training module and the selected training approaches was highly satisfactory. The questionnaire that was prepared included the possibilities for evaluation of the contents, importance and form of each part of the training. Thus useful feedback was received on different assets which will be incorporated in the final module on prejudices.

It is not shameful not to know. It is shameful not to ask!
